Although you might be tempted to just toss your clothing in a box and put it in a storage location, you need to put a little more care if you expect your clothing to last through the following season. - Knitted and silk fabrics should be stored flat, but if you have to hang them pad them with white tissue.

- Thoroughly clean wool before storing and use mothballs to protect them. I know they’re terrible and they smell, but they work.
Desiccants will help keep out moisture and are a good idea but do not let them touch the actual clothing.

Preserving Old Photographs
If you are interested in preserving old family photographs, or new ones, for future generations to enjoy, you will need more than just climate control storage units. You will need to acid-free boxes and paper, a black magic marker, and the willingness to browse through your crazy family photos!
Start by getting rid of those magnetic or peel and stick albums. Cheap photo albums and frames will damage the pictures over time. Only use a photo album that is acid-free. Packing Supplies at Every Location

A New Year, Clutter Free
In just a matter of days we’ll enter a brand new year. Will 2012 be a prosperous year full of great adventures for you? I hope so! But one resolution that shouldn’t be too difficult to accomplish this year is to live clutter free. You’ve been meaning to clean the house for quite some time and now that you’re overflowing with new holiday gifts, the house is even more of a mess.

Less Is More
When I moved recently, I noticed I had quite an extensive collection of books. I do have an English degree after all so it’s not surprising. But as I began packing up my books, I realized just how much they weigh. Even the weight of paperbacks can quickly add up. It wasn’t long before the box became incredibly heavy. And that box barely had any books in it! Yes the ugly truth is that unless you invest in a Kindle, you’re going to need about ten boxes just for one small bookcase.
The best way to pack up your books for Texas storage is to pack a few books in a box with other items that weigh significantly less. If you also have a large collection of DVDs, they are light enough to pack with the books. Or at least that’s what I was forced to do. I recommend continually testing the weight of each box as you add items. Keep in mind that while it might not feel too heavy to carry, it will quickly weigh you down if you need to carry boxes up and down stairs or walk long distances.
