How To Get Rid of Everything You Don’t Need
If by now you haven’t gotten to that New Year’s resolution to organize your home, this is the time to start. Organizing your home doesn’t have to be a hassle — you just have to approach it the right way, and that means taking things step by step.
Step 1: Sort through your belongings. Set aside anything you don’t use regularly.
Step 2: Divide everything up into three categories: things that can be thrown out, things that can be donated, and things that should be stored.
Step 3: Bag up the things that can be thrown out and the things that can be donated; use two different colored garbage bags and/or boxes so you won’t accidentally donate a bag of trash.
Step 4: Box up the things you plan to store, then look into a storage center, like Proguard Storage in Houston. Find out about their unit sizes and prices (we recommend climate controlled storage), then after you’ve chosen one, pre-organize your belongings the way you would in the storage unit.
Step 5: Rent a van or truck for the day. Pack up everything so you can make one trip. Drop off the garbage first, then the donations, then bring the rest to the storage center.
