Self Storage Houston
Ah, Valentine’s Day. For some, it’s the most romantic day of the year. For others… not so much. If Valentine’s Day isn’t really your bag, spend the day productively: gather up all the junk your exes gave you and get rid of it.
Of course, when I say “get rid of,” I mean either sell or put it into storage. Why not just throw it away? you might ask. Well, think of it this way: that junk might just be worth something someday. You might not have had the most stellar relationship, but that’s no reason not to profit from it. In fact, it’s a great reason to profit from it. Consider it a little karmic relief, or closure.
So, not sure what to sell and what to store? Well, here’s a little guidance:
Electronics: Depending on how old it is and what condition it’s in, you can probably go ahead and sell it.
DVDs/CDs: Store them. Eventually (probably in the not-too-distant future, actually), DVDs and CDs will go the way of VHS and 8-track tapes. They’ll be considered campy and nostalgic-inducing, and future hipsters will pay a pretty penny for them.
Jewelry: This really depends on what kind of jewelry it is. If it’s a fairly plain diamond, gold or silver piece, go ahead and sell it, but if it’s something unique, hold onto it — 20 years from now you’ll be able to sell it for way more than it’s worth on Etsy or eBay.
Anything you do decide to store, you should store in a climate-controlled storage unit. As we’ve pointed out before, climate-controlled storage units will help whatever you’re storing stay in better condition for longer.
