Use Climate Controlled Storage to Make Room for New Tech

It’s time to pack away your old junk. Say goodbye to the VHS player and cassettes, SNES and cartridges, and even your 8-track player. It’s time to make room for some Blu-ray, XBox360, and a collection of different iPods.

climate controlled storageElectronics, film, plastic and the like all need climate controlled storage. Climate controlled storage is usually between 55 and 80 degrees, never to exceed it. This is to avoid several problems. Film and cassete tapes, used and unused, will fade, warp, and spoil in heat. Plastic can warp, crack, or split. Electronics are especially sensitive to temperature changes. You don’t want your game cartridges and consoles to be exposed to extremely hot temperatures because they’ll fail to work. It’s the same deal with cool and wet environmental changes because moisture can get caught in them. You still want to keep these items because you’ll never know when you want to re-use them so why take the risk?

Climate controlled storage units, especially self-storage ones, provide you with the comfort of knowing that your gear won’t be ruined. More retro things are being revived every day. One of these days you’re going to be looking for them and hoping they are still in working order.
